Emirates ID card renewal

Emirates ID card renewal | Renewing the Emirates ID is no less important and mandatory than obtaining the Emirates ID for the first time, it includes all citizens residing in the Emirates, whether they are Emirati citizens, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council, or expatriates residing in the country of all categories and ages.

A citizen residing in the UAE must renew the Emirates ID within 30 days of its expiration, and a delay fine of 20 dirhams per day is imposed on everyone who delays the renewal of the identity, with a maximum fine of up to 1000 dirhams per month.

A citizen can apply to renew the Emirates ID card six months before its expiry date. As for expatriates residing in the UAE, they have the right to renew the identity while renewing the validity of the residence visa, or upon re-issuance of it.

Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship sends an alert text message before the card expires; At that time, a renewal request should be submitted either through the accredited typing center, or electronically via the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) website by filling in the electronic application form, as well as submitting some biological reports of the person applying for renewal by visiting the Customer Happiness Centers of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

Emirates ID card renewal for citizens:

Documents required to renew a citizen’s identity:

  • The original of the Expired identity card, or a copy or its data.
  • A personal photo with dimensions (4.5 x 3.5 cm) and a white background (for those under 15 years old, senior citizens and people of determination, who are unable to reach service centers, according to the medical reports available to them).
  • Original birth certificate (for those under 15 years old).
  • A parent’s passport or Emirates ID (for those under 15 years old).
  • Social security certificate, to be attested by the Ministry of Community Development in the UAE (for social security beneficiaries), where they are exempted from ID card issuance fees.
  • A valid medical report, issued by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, or health authorities, to exempt people of determination or senior citizens from ID card issuance fees.
  •  In case that person concerned is not present, the original authorization certificate must be submitted.

Emirates ID card renewal for expatriates residing in the country:

Documents required for identity renewal:

 

    • The original or copy of the expired ID card or its data.
    • Valid original passport.
    • The original of a valid entry visa, the original residence permit under renewal procedures, or a valid residence permit for those who did not renew their identity when issuing the residence permit.
    • A personal photo with dimensions (4.5 x 3.5 cm) and a white background (for those under 15 years old, the elderly and people of determination, who are unable to reach service centers, according to the medical reports available to them).
    • Original birth certificate (for those under 15 years old).
    • A parent’s passport or Emirates ID (for those under 15 years old).
    • The original diplomatic / consular card / membership card of international organizations for the category of heads and members of diplomatic and consular missions and international organizations located inside the country, to be exempted from ID card issuance fees.
    • A valid medical report, issued by the Ministry of Health or health authorities in the Emirates, to exempt people of determination or the elderly from the fees for issuing an ID card
    • In case that person concerned is not present, the original proxy certificate must be submitted.
ID CARD RENEWAL

Emirates ID card renewal for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council residing in the country:

Documents required for identity renewal:

  • The original, copy or data of the expired ID card
  • Valid Original passport
  • Medical valid reports approved by the Ministry of Health or the Health Authority in the Emirates.
  •  In case that person concerned is not present, the original proxy certificate must be submitted.
  • The original valid Gulf ID of the customer issued by his origin country (for those who are 21 years old and over), or for one of the parents, (for those under 21 years old).
  • A recent personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background (for those under 15 years old).
  • Proof of residence in the country, including: The origin of the record for the head of the family, and for the children citizens:
  • Original documents proving blood relationship with an Emirati citizen: birth certificate/ marriage contract/record abstract.
  • First-class citizen (mother, father, children, husband and wife).
  • Second-class citizen (grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, grandson and granddaughter).
  • Third-degree citizen (uncle, aunt, uncle).
  • A personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) and a white background (for the elderly and people of determination, who are unable to reach service centers, according to their available medical reports).
  • Original (passport / abstract / ID card).
  • Original valid commercial license.
  • Ownership of a residential or commercial property in the country.
  • An original certificate of continuance from one of the country’s schools, colleges or universities.
  • Original work contract certified by the Ministry of Labor for workers in the private sector.
  • The original work certificate issued by one of the government institutions in the country for workers in the government sector.
